Re-pot in the morning for healthier plants
Boyd Farar, who has been gardening in Corpus Christi for 4 ½ years, said moving plants around in the morning is safer for the plants as well as the gardener.
"When you transplant, you disturb the root and all the fragile root hairs that bring water and nutrients to the plants," Farar said. "And, if you do this in the heat of the day, it causes even more stress to the plant."
Farar suggests gardening early and trimming back the plant's foliage so the recovering root doesn't have as much plant to feed.
Book signing: 'Home Management 101'
Debbie Williams, professional organizer and author of "Home Management 101: A Guide for Busy Parents," will sign copies of her book at 2 p.m. today at Barnes & Noble Booksellers. Williams will also be available to answer clutter-conquering questions.
According to Williams, managing clutter is more than cleaning house. It also involves family teamwork and time management.
